Coming from Porlamar/ Airport/ Ferry Port (“Punta de Piedras”): [minutes of travel time, about: 25/ 35/ 50 – from: Porlamar/ aeropuerto/ Ferry (“Punta de Piedras")]

·  A taxi from the airport to the Margarita Hostel charges about 15 $/  [from the center of Porlamar about 10 $/ from the ferry-port ("Punta de Piedras") about 20 $/ ] - (information: 03/07) –

“llegando por la Avenida 31 de Julio (carretera de Porlamar a Playa El Agua/ Manzanillo/ Norte de la Isla)  pasa la entrada principal de Playa el Agua (a mano derecha – no cruzar aquí) y cruza en la segunda entrada (calle) a mano izquierda (Urb., La Mira)”

·        La entrada (calle) es un poquito mas ancha (tiene forma de “Y”)

·        En la entrada se ve dos  pequeños  kioscos uno azul y el otro amarillo

- [otra referencia: En la Avenida 31 de Julio a pocos metros a mano derecha está un pequeño centro comercial con farmacia. (Lo puedes ver desde la entrada – si pasas la farmacia – ya pasaste la entrada también.)]

·        aunque el nombre de la calle es: Díaz Ordáz, es mas conocida como: “La calle del taller de Oscar” – porque el Sr. Oscar tiene aquí su famoso taller Automotriz.

By Bus:                             -- It’s really cheap, about 50 cents---

       (about 35 to 45 minutes travel time from Porlamar City/ depending on traffic)

·        The bus stop is nearby Plaza Bolívar - ask for “Linea Playa el Agua” the last bus leaves around 9 p.m.

(Usually there’s no schedule for busses in Venezuela. The Bus leaves when all seats are occupied)

·        Passing the main entrance to “Playa el Agua” get off the bus (tell the driver to stop there):

·        Turn left the second street (diagonally opposite of the Farmacia - pharmacy) –

(The street has a wide entrance similar to a “Y”- you’ll see 2 small kiosks one is blue - the other yellow in the entrance, and you’re on the right way).

·        The street is called: Calle Diaz Ordaz, but the neighbors know it better as: “la calle del taller de Oscar”- because Mr. Oscar has his well known garage there.-

·        Follow this street - almost at the end of it you’ll see on your right hand site behind a black gate the big Indian Palm Roof Top (In Venezuela this is called: Churuata, by it’s native Indigenous name).

·        Looking into the lot you’ll see on both “border walls” the writing:

“HOTEL    F.G.”; this was the former Name of the Guesthouse. Some

·         Don’t forget to tell the driver to take you to LA MIRA – PLAYA EL AGUA. If you don’t mention “La Mira”, he may bring you to a hotel in the ordinary touristy area of Playa El Agua (…maybe even of his choice…if he is bought…). VENEZUELA GUIDES – MARGARITA HOSTEL is situated in “La Mira” - This is the real village of Playa El Agua, where most of the local population, farmers and fishermen live.—

The most convenient and reasonable priced way to make phone calls in Venezuela is to buy a UNICA (“Tarjeta UNICA”) – This is a prepaid phone card which works with a secret number from any phone for national (including mobile-phones) and international calls  - but you’ll get the instructions just in Spanish.

The other, easier way is to buy a common CANTV Card (“Tarjeta CANTV”)

Works just with CANTV (official Venezuelan phone company) phones, but you just have to insert the card and dial the number).
